Doni Hatz
Doni Jessica Hatz is a scientific and artistic glassblower with over 20 years of experience. Born in Portland, Oregon, she began her study in glassblowing with off-hand glassblowing at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington. Within a year she discovered the art of scientific glassblowing at Salem Community College and moved to Carney's Point, New Jersey to study under Joseph Luisi. She has been fabricating customized laboratory apparatus in borosilicate and quartz at such institutions as Union Carbide Corporation, State University of New York at Stony Brook and presently with Procter and Gamble Company. She recently traveled to Murano, Italy to study under Cesare Toffolo to learn traditional Venetian style glassblowing that is reflected in her latest work.
She began to apply experience with the art of precision work to glass beadmaking, goblets and sculpture. She has demonstrated for the American Scientific Glassblowers Society, International Society of Glass Bead Makers and Glass Art Society and taught at several glass schools throughout the country. Her glass has been published in quarterly magazine Fusion and various books such as the New Glass Review #20, Contemporary Lampworking (2nd and 3rd Editions by Bandhu Scott Dunham), Glas Pa Kroppen by Torben Sode, Glass Beadmaking by Jim Kervin, Formed of Fire by Bandhu Scott Dunham, 1000 glass Beads by Lark Books, Featured artist of "Flow" magazine February 2005, 1000 Glass Beads by Lark Books, 500 Glass Objects by Lark Books, Good Things, Small Packages by Public Glass in San Francisco and Forty Glass Bead Masters by Lark Books.
