I have chosen to work in glass because of its many unique properties. The material can take on many forms and textures. My work and training stems from a very traditional background. Growing up in Corning, New York has given me exposure to the art of glass since I was born. Ever since I was a young child I have enjoyed visiting the Corning Museum of Glass, at which I received a job after graduating high school. There I trained with Steuben master glassblowers, and still work with them to this day. This methodology has given me the technical skills to explore my art in a number of ways.

Currently my work focuses on the vessel. The ultimate goal is to take a functional vessel and transcend it into a sculptural object, and still preserve its functionality. This exploration is achieved by variation on form, color, and transparency of each vessel. I strive to achieve a finished product that is elegant, modern, and innovative.

What intrigues me as an artist, is that no matter how long I work the material, glass will always pose new challenges, and forever keep me a student. When working glass, the world slips away leaving you and the glass. Nothing else is relevant at this point in time. Glass takes your total concentration for a successful piece of art. The process and meditative aspect of the material will always fascinate me, and keep glass a main focus throughout my development as an artist.
